When Politicians Attack!!!
This storyis hilarious. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be hilarious. Don't get laughing too hard, the sequel is even funnier. In brief, South Side councilman Ron Segovia is Married in the Common-Law Fashion (okay, fine, shacking up with) local ABC affiliate KSAT-TV reporter Gina Galaviz. This is Opportunity #1 to make mention of politics and the media in bed with each other. That's a whole other blatheration there.
So a local city councilman is putting it to a local reporter. Who gives a local damn? Well, they had themselves a spat. Seriously, you guys, hold your laughter whilst you read paragraph #1. Put your coffee down.
City Councilman Ron Segovia has been accused by his girlfriend, a KSAT-TV reporter, of hurling an apple at her and bruising her back, then pointing a gun at her the next day.
Yeah. I'm not gonna say this is a big story in town here. Most of Monday was spent giggling about this on every radio station in town, and rightfully so. I have no idea how the THREE Express-News staff writers managed to write it without ridiculing the situation even once. There's no reason to take this seriously. In reference to the (*snort*) allegation that he threw an apple at Ms Galaviz's back, Segovia said, "I was aiming at her (buttocks). Never have I hit or mishandled a woman, ever." This was in response to Galaviz's provocative (not-in-the-good-way provocative) tossing of a hamburger towards said City Councilman.
Long story short, everything else in the story is Textbook White Trash Domestic Disturbance. Cops came out! Watch Jeff Foxworthy's explanation of a "dangerous man" for the full story. "Lock his ass up! Lock his ass uuuuuup!"
And now (*titter*) it appears the Real Story, the Script as it were, is that the cops mishandled the whole situation. Let's see, you're dealing with a city councilman, a reporter, a domestic disturbance. Kobiyashi Maru, that. That's the no-win situation. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that SAPD could have done that wouldn't have put them in the doghouse. So they did fine because they showed up.
Next election cycle, Segovia wins. Just... trust me.
